W. C. Sales was a Confederate veteran of Buncombe County, N.C. The collection is a typescript sketch of the life of Sales, recorded by Mrs. A. Mathews, 1929, incorporating Sales's own account of his service with the 60th North Carolina Infantry Regiment in Tennessee and his imprisonment at Camp Douglas, Ill.
